Jim Austin
Jim Austin, J.D., Chair, Board of Trustees: is a solo practitioner attorney in the Milford, with a general practice concentrating in transportation, corporate, family and construction law. He is also a mediator for general civil and domestic matters. He is the father of a 2004 graduate of the Ann Arbor Academy and spent four years as an active parent volunteer, along with his wife, Louise, coordinating social events, maintenance projects and parent volunteers for school functions. In additional to being a member of the Board of Trustees, Jim is also a member of the Advisory Board, Development and Marketing Committee and Legal Committee for the Ann Arbor Academy. Mr. Austin spent ten years as a squash professional for the Birmingham Athletic Club, the University Club of Detroit and the Detroit Racquet Club. He is on the Board of Trustees of the State YMCA of Michigan, and serves its Hayo-Went-Ha Camps as the Boys Camp Program Committee chairman and was co-chairman of the 100 Years of Camping Celebration. Jim is also a volunteer mediator for the Wayne Mediation Center.
Claire Foley
Claire Foley, CPA MBA: Chair, Finance Committee: is the president of Fiscal Fitness, LLC, an Ann Arbor-based business that provides financial planning and consulting at both the corporate and individual levels, as well as seminars on various business topics. Prior to establishing Fiscal Fitness, Ms. Foley was the Vice-President of Finance and CFO of a mid-sized manufacturing company. She has over 20 years experience in various financial management positions in both the non-profit and for-profit sectors. She earned her B.S. in Accounting and Finance from Michigan Technological University and her MBA from the University of Michigan. She is currently an Adjunct Professor teaching graduate-level courses in Corporate Finance, Managerial Accounting and Strategic Planning at Walsh College. She joined the board in May of 2004, and serves as the chair of the Finance Committee.
Joanne Marttila Pierson
Joanne Marttila Pierson, Ph.D.: Chair, Marketing and Development Committee: is the Associate Director of the University Center for the Development of Language and Literacy at the University of Michigan. A certified speech-language pathologist, she practiced in the public schools for 14 years prior to returning to the University of Michigan where she completed her doctorate in Education with an emphasis in Language, Literacy, and Learning disabilities. Dr. Pierson has been affiliated with the Academy since 2001, initially sitting on the Advisory Board, joining the Board of Trustees in 2002 and currently chairing the Development and Marketing Committee. Dr. Pierson is a member of the Ann Arbor Rotary and is on the board of the Family Book Club of Washtenaw County.
Ken King
Ken King, Ph.D.: is a managing partner in Clementi-King and provides global regulatory consulting services and the parent of a 2004 graduate.. In addition to his role on the Board of Trustees, Ken is a member of the Development and Marketing Committee. Dr. King was most recently Sr. VP Worldwide Development for Pfizer R&D where he was responsible for U.S. regulatory activities. Prior to Pfizer's acquisition of Warner Lambert, he was the Sr. VP Worldwide Regulatory Affairs for Warner Lambert. Ken has over 30 years of drug development experience with over 20 years in regulatory affairs. Dr. King received his B.S. in Pharmacy and Ph. D. in Organic Chemistry for the University of Illinois and is the father of an Ann Arbor Academy graduate.
Maureen Knight
Maureen Knight: Chair for the Parent Committee, is the Vice President of Speckhard-Knight Charitable Foundation (SKCF). SKCF grants in the important areas of adoption, foster care, at risk families and the environment. She has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Iowa and a Master of Science in Exercise Physiology from Illinois Benedictine College, now Benedictine University. Maureen is ACSM Exercise Specialist and Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist Certified. She has three children, two attend Ann Arbor Public Schools and one attends the Ann Arbor Academy.
Pamela S. Ludolph
Pamela Ludolph: holds an AB in Psychology from Mount Holyoke College, an AM in Educational Theory from the University of Toronto, and an MA and PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Michigan. She has been an adjunct faculty member at the University of Michigan for over 25 years. She has worked as a school psychologist and high school special education teacher. For the last 15 years, she has served as the psychological consultant to the Child Advocacy Law Clinic at the University of Michigan Law School. She is a past member of the Boards of the Michigan Psychological Association and the Michigan Association on the Abuse of Children, and was Chair of the Children and Families Committee of the Michigan Psychological Association. She maintains a private practice in Ann Arbor, Michigan, with an emphasis on issues of divorce, child custody and access, and child maltreatment. She has treated many children with learning challenges, and their families. She often is asked to conduct parenting time and child protection evaluations for the Courts, and frequently speaks to professional groups on issues related to child and family welfare.
