Customized Learning
When a student needs remediation in a subject, the Academy will establish a written set of goals for that student in each problem area. Progress on the goals is tracked by the relevant teacher throughout each semester, and this information is sent home with each report card. Areas which may require a Customized Learning Plan (CLP) include learning strategies (organization, homework completion, getting started with classwork), behavioral strategies (using appropriate words and actions with peers and adults, finding a safe adult to help manage feelings of anger or fear, etc.), memory skills (making notecards of important concepts, review strategies, etc.), note-taking and highlighting skills, written expression, reading, and math. CLPs allow the Academy and the family to track with great precision a student's progress through areas that are problematic for him or her.
