Fine and Performing Arts

Performing Arts: We offer both drama and music at the Academy, and both are available to middle and high school students. There is a school play every spring, and past productions have included A Midsummer Night's Dream and The Odyssey. The music program accommodates instruments that students are interested in, and they work together to prepare pieces for the twice yearly Academy Performance Nights, which also include performances by members of the drama program. Music appreciation is also offered.
Fine Art: There is a strong emphasis on the fine and performing arts at the Academy, as we find that many of our students excel in these fields. The Art Department offers classes at many skill levels in drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, and photography. All students have the option of taking art classes, and their work has been showcased at many places in the greater Ann Arbor area, as well as nationally.
Computer Art: We have an unusually strong and diverse department of computer arts. We offer Publication and Design, which leads to the publication of the yearbook, as well as beginning and advanced Photoshop and Web Design classes. Computer Animation at a beginning and advanced level is also offered, and students make a video for the Awards and Graduation Ceremony at the end of the year. |
