Position: Development Director/Electives instructor/Summer Program Coordinator
Hello, Ann Arbor Academy families! My name is Michael Barg and I'm thrilled to be returning for my fifth year as a member of the faculty. I serve as the school's Development Director and afternoon electives instructor. So far, I've thoroughly enjoyed teaching Humanities, Psychology, Spanish, Public Speaking, and Culinary Arts among others. I am also an alumn! I found Ann Arbor Academy as a student after years of struggling with ADHD and an auditory processing disorder before graduating in 2005.
I studied Geography and Urban Planning at Wayne State University before acquiring my first teaching experiences as part of a study abroad program in Israel where I taught perspectives on American culture.
My work background before joining our school as a member of the staff was mostly entrepreneurial, leading guided tours in Detroit for Quicken Loans and several non-profit organizations followed by several years in restaurants and retail grocery.
My hobbies include music, enjoying classic films, performing arts, reading, motorcycle riding, playing sports, and taking my wonderful dog, Brody on long walks and excursions to Swift Run dog park in Ann Arbor. I'm also a proud member of Ann Arbor Rotary Club!
I'm thrilled to get started with the 2023-24 academic year working with our amazingly unique students and to perform duties promoting our school and its philosophy to the world around us.
Looking forward to connecting very soon!
