Summer Fun @ Ann Arbor Academy
The Ann Arbor Academy Summer Program will be in person for the summer of 2021!
Students will learn academic skills in the mornings and take fun field trips in the afternoon. The program is open to students ages 8-18, and you do not have to be enrolled at Ann Arbor Academy to attend.
Sessions will run from 8:30 am - 3:00 pm Monday - Friday
There are five sessions of one week each, from July 12 - August 13.
The cost per session is $400.
Students and teachers will be masked and appropriate distancing will be maintained.
Why the summer program?
Children with learning challenges often fall behind in reading and math skills during the summer. This is especially of concern following months of online classes due to COVID-19. We provide enrichment and support in order to retain and improve on these crucial skills so that students are ready to return to school in September.
Your Child Can Expect:
Reading instruction that uses the Science of Reading to build proficiency with decoding, fluency, and vocabulary acquisition in order to increase comprehension
Math practice to solidify problem solving skills, math facts, automaticity, and introduce upcoming concepts and vocabulary to prepare for the fall
Writing practice in journaling, summarizing, and essays
Multi-sensory, project based science and art classes
Afternoons of hands on activities, projects, and field trips
Social skills feedback to build on social strengths and support growth
Reading, writing, and mathematics are supported through the Spectrum curriculum and individualized instruction
